Family Update 9/30/22
Principal Fountain's Message To Families
Dear Families,
We have been in school for 30 days. In that time we have had 241 volunteers and visitors! At JBE we are always striving to create a loving and welcoming environment for our students, their families, and our community members. You are the reason JBE is such a wonderful place and we are so grateful to everyone for understanding and following our safety protocols.
Message from our JBE One President
Well hello Hurricane season! I'm thankful we've made it this far without the chaos of uncertainty that these big storms bring. I'm also thankful for all the teachers that did the quick pivot for e-learning with packets and zooms. We are a lucky bunch at JBE!
Prayers with those in FL and Puerto Rico and for all of you to be safe. We're prepped for card games by candlelight, spaghetti o's and PB&Js - I'm sure you are too.
We still have a few sponsorships available for the capital campaign - they are due by Sept 30th so get those in quick!!
With a JBE Smile,
Katie D. Edwards
JBE ONE President 2022-2023

Our Capital Campaign this year is a Color Run!
We'll kick off with a Pep Rally on Oct 31st and wrap up with a color run on Nov 11. We need business sponsorships to help offset the costs of the run. Under 8 opportunities left so hurry over to our site and grab your advertising slot today! This is a wonderful way to support our school AND get your business in front of 800 plus Mt. P Families.
Grief Support (Sand Dollar Club)
The pressures of school & life can weigh heavily on a grieving child and (the research shows) there is nothing more encouraging than being surrounded by other children who have experienced a loss, too. Sand Dollar Club is a peer support group that helps kids feel less alone in their grief. If you are interested in having your child participate in the after school program, please email Mrs. Bottomley at christina_bottomley@charleston.k12.sc.us
Backpack Buddies
Chronic food insecurity can present many adverse consequences for children, including impaired cognitive function, compromised ability to resist illness, and higher levels of aggression, hyperactivity, and anxiety.
JBE is proud to partner with the Lowcountry Food Bank (LCFB) to assist in the Backpack Buddies program again this year. The mission of the program is to meet the needs of children at risk of hunger by providing them with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends and school vacations when they do not have access to free and reduced-price school meals.
If you are interested in participating in this free program please contact Katie Clark -Perron at Katherine_perron@charleston.k12.sc.us
