Alder Weekly Update
May 30, 2021
Message from the Principal
Hello Students, Parents, and Staff!
I hope that this week brought some happiness and fun! It definitely did at Alder. We are working hard to close one school year, while looking ahead to the next.
Parents- We still have many students who need to bring up their grades. So, please help by checking the Infinite Campus grades portal. Encourage your child to bring up low grades. Teachers are here everyday, ready and willing to help during class, small groups and virtual help. It is more important than ever to communicate with your child’s teachers and support your child toward better grades by encouraging them to get work in and complete any missing tests. Teachers will accept any late assignments without penalty.
As our week continued, we held our 14th National Junior Honor Society Program on Wednesday, June 2nd. We recognized our students for character, service, and academic achievement. Students were issued one ticket for a parent to attend the event. It was also live streamed.
We are planning 8th Grade Awards for Monday, June7th. There are some many wonderful students being honored for their accomplishments. Our Renaissance People’s Choice Awards, 8th Grade Fun Day and The 8th Grade Picnic will follow. We want our 8th graders to have some quality time and memories to share before moving on to high school. We know there are great opportunities ahead for our soon to be 9th grade students.
Again, as the final weeks are ahead, we ask that you please remind your son or daughter about the dress code. Hoods can not be worn up over their heads. Cell phones should be put away in hallways and used as directed by teachers. Many students began a habit of using it for academics, which was quite helpful when virtual. However, now we need to be sure that students are not distracted by cell phones in the hallways. We need them to attend to their surroundings and listen to the administration’s and staff's guidance for use.
Safety measures are in place to best ensure that everyone here stays healthy. Everyone is wearing masks and maintaining distance. Masks are mandatory. However, face shields are no longer needed for our middle school students.
We are beginning to plan and prepare for next year and so as it goes, one year ends and a new one starts in our school year calendar.
