The library is ready to set up, collaborate and assist with any departments, campus, and district needs. This month the library prepared seating arrangements and devices to host meetings for Migrant Department (University Rep), College Go Center, Professional Development for staff, College Readiness, gear up, leadership team, and university presenters.

The library program collaborates with regional libraries, institutions, and/or community partners to provide access to additional programs and resources for students and faculty.

The program includes opportunities for collaboration among members of the learning community and opportunities to help learners become independent users and producers of ideas and information. The book club voted for our 2021-2022 officers. These students will lead, collaborate, plan, and engage students in the book club meetings. Congratulations to our president Darien Sieng Senior, Vice President Angeles Moctezuma Senior, Secretary Stephanie Velazquez Freshman, Historian Samantha Omana Senior.

Information Literacy: School library programs offer information literacy instruction that enables students to efficiently locate, accurately evaluate, ethically use, and clearly communicate information in various formats

Dimension 1: The school library program features a learning environment that cultivates a sense of community and respect among all students and staff.

It was a spooktacular library event, we had 41 students attend All Hallow's Read during their A or B lunch. Students listened and told scary stories in the dark. After they were treated to spooky snack.

Thank you to the book club and Mr. Benavides art students who participated this year. Everyone loved all the entries. The PSJA district librarians carefully judged all entries. Pictured below are the winners.

This was the 1st 5th Grade Southwest ECHS Chip & Putt golf tournament for our elementary feeder campuses that was held at the PSJA Short shot golf course. The following campuses competed: Cesar Chavez Elementary, Carmen Anaya Elementary, Garcia Elementary, Berta Palacios Elementary, Palmer Elementary, and Aida Escobar Elementary. The cheerleaders, dance team, book club, and golf team helped out. An awards presentation was held at the end of the competition for the competing campuses. Great job Golf Coach Aaron Gonzalez for organizing the event and including the book club.

The cheerleaders selected a staff member they admire to cheer with them. We were all so honored to be chosen and care deeply for these wonderful girls. The cheer squad under the direction of Miss Reyes taught us five cheers during two practice sessions. We debuted our talent during the 1st quarter of the football game.

Students in Mr. M. Gonzalez class learned how to access books on myON, test a book on Accelerated Reader, and create a backpack on Mackinvia.

Strand 4: Effective School Libraries are a vital hub with equitable access to emerging technologies that provide curated and open access to a variety of print and digital resources. They support best instructional practices and curriculum standards through the integration of resources while assessing the impact on student learning.

Collaborate and co-learn with students to discover and use new digital resources and diagnose and troubleshoot technology issues.
