Feudalism and Manorialism
Feudalism was the dominate social society during the Middle Ages. Nobles would hold the land from the king in exchange for military services, peasants then had to live on the land and provide their lord with homage, labor, and a share of the produce.
Manorialism
Manorialism exchanged labor or rents for access of land. The Lord of the Manor operated the system of manorialism which in return game him economic and legal power over his tenants. Peasants also had right to use the land. They were allowed to take wood from a surrounding forest for fuel or for building purposes.
Monarchs
A monarchy is a type of government in which sovereignty is embodied in a single individual known as the monarch. Monarchy was the most common type of government until the 19th century, but it isn't used anymore.
Catholic Church
During the Middle Ages the Catholic Churches became organized into sections with the Pope at the top. The church was the government for a very long time but soon lost power. They helped when plagues spread and when disasters occurred. The churches were mostly made with gothic architecture.
