Calls or texts received outside of these hours will be answered the following work day. You can reach out about multiple topics, including but not limited to:
Social or emotional concerns;
Resources such as food, housing and transportation; or
Ideas on how to support your child during the stay-at-home order.
Virtual Board of Education Meeting May 13
District 15 will hold its Wednesday, May 13 Board of Education meeting virtually. Since Illinois is currently under a Stay-at-Home Order enacted by the Governor due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a recent provision (2020–07: COVID-19 Executive Order No. 5, Section 6) allows a change to the Open Meetings Act where “in-person attendance by a public body” is suspended.
A video live stream of the open session beginning at 7 p.m. will be available to watch on our District 15 Facebook page and website, so residents can view the meeting live online per our usual practice. If you'd like to address the Board through public comment, please complete the Google Form prior to the meeting being called to order.
Any submissions we receive will be read aloud at the start of the meeting as long as they comply with Board Policy 2:230 - Public Participation at Board of Education Meetings and Petitions to the Board. Submissions will also be posted in BoardDocs and on the District’s website so that members of the general public are able to view them after the meeting concludes.
Food Service Delivery Continues
District 15 will continue providing meal delivery service during teacher institute and planning days (May 7, 8, 15 and 22). There will not be food delivery on Memorial Day, May 25.
Beginning next week, there will be some meals delivered frozen for reheating at home. A new menu will be shared soon.
For more information on meal pick-up locations, please visit our website.
CARE/STAR to Offer Morning Kindergarten Childcare
Starting in the fall, CARE/STAR park district programs will offer morning half-day childcare for interested kindergarten families. Currently, there is only the option for afternoon half-day care.
This additional option will allow students enrolled in both morning and afternoon kindergarten sections to receive a full day of care, allow more families to take advantage of the program and eliminate enrollment stressors placed on schools in the past.
Learn more about the program by visiting this link. Incoming kindergarten families are asked to take a brief survey to share potential interest in the program.
Food and Cleaning Supply Drive
