A Note from the FMS Administrative Team

Dear FMS Families,

It's hard to believe that October is now upon us! October is a busy month, as we will wrap up the first quarter in three short weeks, host parent/teacher conferences, and participate in fall break at the end of the month. In the interim, our students will be busy finalizing their learning for the first nine weeks of the academic year.

A big "thank you" goes out to all of our students and families who took part in our first FMS PTSA Fall Family Tailgate. Although we had to move most of the festivities indoors, a fun time was had by all. We appreciate the help that was provided by our FMS families in order to make the event a success. We look forward to hosting future events in an effort to further develop a strong sense of community among our FMS eagles!

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Fall conferences will be held on Wednesday, October 26 from 3:30-7 p.m. and on Thursday, October 27 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. Both in-person and virtual options will be available. Teachers are currently in the process of contacting families regarding scheduling. Please be on the lookout for an email from your student's team/teachers.

Work for FMS!

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR WORK? At FMS, we are looking to fill one Special Education IA (Instructional Assistant) position in our Milestone Center, one long-term sub Special Education IA position, and one long-term sub for a Special Education teacher. Additionally, we are in need of subs, as we have sub openings every day. We would love to have you join our FMS team!

Canvas Parent Guide

Many families have requested information regarding the ways in which to access Canvas, which is the learning platform that is utilized throughout the secondary level in the WSD. Access to the platform will allow families to see grades and other important information that is pertinent to student success within each class. Click here to access the guide.

After School Academic Assist

Students who wish to obtain additional academic assistance are invited to stay after school Monday through Thursday from 2:40-3:35 p.m. to work with a staff member. Transportation is not provided; therefore, all students must have a ride available for pick-up at 3:35 p.m.

The first semester schedule is as follows:

Mondays: Ms. Kaiser (Room 1405)

Tuesdays: Ms. Chrum (Room 402)

Wednesdays: Mrs. Schmidt (Room 1406)

Thursdays: Ms. Arnold (Room 605)

A Note from the Nurse

Big Smiles Dental is a mobile dentist clinic that visits schools each year. They provide dental care to students at no cost to parents. Big Smiles Dental will be providing service to FMS students on Tuesday, October 4. This service is purely optional and will only be provided with parent permission. Yearbook Sales

2022-2023 Frontier Middle School yearbooks are officially on sale through Herff Jones! Order before November 11 to take advantage of "Early Bird" pricing ($25). Eighth grade parents are also invited to purchase a baby ad for $25. The deadline for baby ads is November 11.

SUGARFIRE DINE OUT DAY:

On Thursday, October 13, Sugarfire in Winghaven and Sugarfire in Wentzville will host a Dine-Out Day for the FMS PTSA from 11:00 AM-9:00 PM! 15% of all proceeds of sales that mention FMS will be donated directly to the FMS PTSA! This applies to dine-in, carry-out, and delivery. Please help support this event, and enjoy a great meal!

Reporting Attendance Via Email

Did you know that attendance can be reported through email? If your student will be absent, you may email our Attendance Secretary, Mrs. Kristi Rivet, at attendance.frontier@wsdr4.org. This is a quick and easy way to notify the office without having to leave a voicemail or potentially wait on hold.

Intramural Activities

Check out our current and upcoming intramural activities at FMS! To participate, a permission slip must be submitted to the Student Office. The permission slip form is good for all intramurals throughout the duration of the 2022-2023 academic year. Activities are open to students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. Additional offerings will be announced each month. We hope your student(s) can join the fun!
