University Elementary
April News
Principal's Message
Dear University Elementary Families,
I hope this newsletter finds everyone healthy and settling into our new reality with distance learning and a shelter in place order. I have held off with this newsletter due to ever changing news but I do believe the time has come. It is clear that our schools will be closed until we open for the 2020-2021 school year. That said, school is in session as you know and you are the person to make sure your student logs into their classroom and does their work. I am proud to report that most of our students are working daily and turning in their work. Good job parents and caregivers! If you are a parent that is struggling please reach out to us, we are here to support you.
Both the District and myself will be holding restorative circles this month and next to support parents in this new role. A restorative circle is basically a place to share how you are feeling, receive emotional validation and support, and connect with other parents sharing the same experience.
Once the shelter in place orders are released we will be contacting families in order that arrangements can be made to pick up student belongings that are in the classroom, clothing in our lost and found, and yearbooks for those that have ordered them.
Below, you will find some photos of some of our teachers as they work to provide distance learning. It warms my heart to see them working away and I hope that you too will enjoy this little window of them at work.
We are all in this together,
Charlotte Straub
