PSTA at the State House
PSTA members were well represented this week at the State House. Staff attended multiple committee meetings, including hearings dealing with educator vaccine access and civics instruction in high school. In addition, Executive Director Kathy Maness offered testimony on Wednesday in a committee hearing in support of legislation that would expand teacher loan forgiveness, and on Thursday, Director of Governmental Affairs Patrick Kelly testified against legislation that seeks to make the state Superintendent of Education a position appointed by the Governor rather than elected by the voters. Staff had in-person meetings with several legislators, including Senate Education Committee Chairman Greg Hembree.
