What are eclipses?

An eclipse is when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. The Moon blocks the light of the Sun and a shadow of the Moon is cast on the Earth's surface. This is a solar eclipse.

Explain the shadow

The moon is between the earth and the sun and the moon blocks the sunlight to the earth. Which causes the earth to be partially or fully covered in shadows.

Why do eclipses not happen ever month

The moons orbit is not directly in the same plain as the earths orbit. The earths is tilted which means the earth rarely passes between the earth and sun.

Lunar eclipse

A lunar eclipse occurs when the normal full moon crosses into the earth shadow thereby creating a darkened area on the moon. During a partition a lunar eclipse, only part of the moon crosses through the earth shadow, and therefore the entire moon is darkened.

Solar eclipse

During a sore eclipse the sun is not completely covered. The a for eclipse is where the moon is positioned directly between the sun and the earth. Which covers the whole sun besides the sun leaves a perfect ring on the out ide of the moon
