Happy Teacher Appreciation Week- We hope you felt loved!

Wonderful teachers and support staff, we thank you for your service and dedication to our students! It certainly takes a special kind of person to have the patience and persistence to work with high school students, especially those in our at-risk environment. Your efforts are appreciated by all, and though you may not receive thanks from your students on a daily basis, remember that you have a tremendous impact on their lives. We are grateful for you and for the role you play in the lives of our students!!

Quarter 4 ILP Update Window

The Q4 ILP update window opens May 9th and closes May 27th. Please ensure you are pacing yourself properly to complete all ILPs by the due date.

What should I be doing?
1. Complete ILPs: Remember students who are brand new this quarter need an initial ILP; whereas, returning students need only an ILP update. These are conversations on progress in content classes, education goals, career plans, etc.

2. Document ILPs with the correct template in TVS:

If you have any questions please ask you lead!

HLT Limited Availability 5/9-5/11

From Monday, 5/9 through, Wednesday 5/11 I will have limited availability due to in-person administrative meetings. I will be checking my email, answering texts, returning phone calls, as often as I can. If you have an emergency, please text me immediately!

Teacher Training Module 6

Don’t forget to enroll in the last HS NPD: Best Practices live session required for your Module 6 training! The session is on Tuesday, May 17, at 11am. Please be sure to sign up whether or not you teach live at that time, so that you have access to the recording.

Remember that Module 6 is due May 18th, so please pace yourself between now and then! Let me know if you have any questions!

Quarter 4 Work Records

  • The work Record roster is now posted in SP. If there is a student missing from the roster and you need to do a work record on them, simply add them to your list.

  • Remember if you are part of the virtual work record pilot program to refer to those directions on uploading into Pathways. If you need those again, please let me know and I will send them your way.

Please let me know if there are any questions.

Testing Reminders

Remember to remind families of their testing assignments and confirm that they will attend. You will be hearing from your testing lead with regard to student attendance as we receive it. It is imperative, that we are working together collectively as a team, to ensure all students are tested!

Again, please complete this survey if you find that a family will have transportation issues preventing them from attending testing: http://goo.gl/forms/OsD8YRMNUy. Here is information regarding transportation (in addition to information on homeless students): https://sharepoint.k12west.com/sites/CMS/Special_Programs/Federal_Programs/Federal%20Programs%20Manual/Resources%20for%20Homeless%20Students.aspx

Testing Tracker on Symbaloo :

Please remember that if you request a change be made in MARVIN to anything about a student’s testing assignment you must let one of the testing leads know (Briette, Melissa, Morgan, Jaime, or Joe H). Likewise, if you are making arrangements for one-on-one or special situations, let us know so we can add it to the tracker. Discrepancies between what’s in MARVIN and what’s on our testing tracker can cause major difficulties, so please let us know if you have made changes!

BTSP Internet Subsidy Email

For your information, an email/kmail was sent to all families regarding the internet subsidy process for those who qualify. Families need to have completed the BTSP by May in order to determine eligibility, and those who qualify will receive an email containing a survey to request spring semester subsidization.

Re-Registration 2016-2017 School Year

Please continue helping families complete their reregistration for the 2016-17 school year. All teachers that have 100% re-registration status by May 31st will be entered to win a $25 gift card.

All families need to do is designate either registering or not registering. Families in the following statuses: Status Unknown or Undecided, are not eligible for the drawing. All must be in registering or not registering status. So, when you are speaking with a student (regardless of your role) check the status and update it right then.

Johnny will be including the re-registration status each week on our combined report. Please be sure to look at this data.

Dana is holding weekly office hours every day (see below for days/times) to help families with this process in case they are having difficulties. Please send any families to her for support.

11 a.m. – 12 p.m.:

  • 5-10
  • 5-17
  • 5-24
  • 5-31

7-8 p.m.

  • 4-28
  • 5-12
  • 5-26

Homeroom Teachers - Please ensure you have sent the attached k-mail to your families. This includes instructions on how to complete the re-registration process (be sure to read it). We will continue to send out emails and making calls to families on the support side as well.

Totalview – Re-Registration Status:

When you pull up a student in TV, click on the overview tab. On the right hand side, you will see Registration Status. You should be able to update the status on this screen. If any family or you has trouble updating their status, please get what their status is and send it directly to me. I will update in the system. Be sure you always include the SID of the student when emailing me.

Homeroom Live Sessions

Because so many of our kids are scheduled to test during the first two weeks of testing, please do not hold live homeroom sessions - use the time to reach out to families and ensure that they will attend test sessions. If you wish to hold homeroom live sessions after that, powerpoint decks have been uploaded and you may choose from months 5 and 6.
