For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District

A message from the Superintendent

Dear Parents and Patrons,

Unprofessional behavior was recently brought to our attention between a male employee towards a female student. Your Board of Education and Administration are addressing that issue per policy and legal parameters. As concerning as the initial actions are, the actions of students continuing to make other students uncomfortable and simply being unkind is also concerning. One-on-one conversation was not working to resolve student-to-student issues. The FHS student and parent letter, found below, was drafted to ensure all students and parents are aware of the legal ramifications when students have conflict . The letter pertains to all parents and students even though initially directed toward FHS.

The following points add clarity to the last paragraph in the FHS letter.

· Appropriate use of student cell phones will continue, however, access to FPS wifi will not be provided.

· ‘Bring Your Own Device’, BYOD procedures allowed students and teachers immediate access to personal classroom technology. Thank you for supporting your student. Because students in grades 6 through 12 are issued a Chrome Book or other electronic device, they will be expected to use only the school issued devices in the classroom.

· Student owned laptops, iPads, etc. are no longer necessary and will not have access to the FPS wifi network.

Thanks for sending great kids, we enjoy working with them.

Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
