MASLOW BEFORE BLOOM
The term " Maslow Before Bloom" is a very popular phrase in education. The phrase means that we must address a child' social and emotional needs such as: safety and food, before we can address their academic needs. When a child's basic needs are met this clears a neurological pathway in their brain to allow for the processing and retention of information.
The article addresses many different strategies that can be used throughout the day to help our students. The research that supports each strategy is is also included in the article. These strategies can easily be integrated into the physical or virtual classroom.
