K Center Important Updates

Snail Lake Families,

We hope you are well and getting excited for the start of the school year!

This email includes information about three important tasks:

  1. View your teacher assignment

  2. Sign up for an Early Connection Meeting

  3. Review the Parent Handbook

Teacher Assignment

As we approach the start of the year, students and families are excited to get to know who their teacher will be and want to start getting to know each other. Creating class lists is a highly complex process that involves many pieces of confidential information about each child and in some cases, includes input from families and staff. Many hours have been invested to set up all students and families for success this upcoming year.

This email is a reminder that at 3:00pm today (Friday, August 20), families will have access to view their child’s teacher assignment by logging into ParentVUE.

  • Please login to ParentVUE in advance to verify your access. If you have forgotten your password you can reset it through ParentVUE. If you need assistance, please email your name and your child’s name to snaillake@moundsviewschools.org to request help. Staff will reply as quickly as they are able.

  • At 3:00pm, families can log into ParentVUE and view their child’s teacher listed in the “class schedule” tab.

  • Teachers have their first official work day on Thursday, August 26 and they will send an introductory email to all families in their class by Friday, August 27.

Early Connection Meetings

Once you know who your child’s teacher will be, please sign up for an Early Connection Meeting by visiting our school website, clicking on “Parent Resources” and then on “Early Connection Meetings”. Early Connection Meetings will occur on Thursday, September 2. If you are unable to attend on September 2, please email the teacher to make other arrangements.

The Early Connection Meeting is a time when each student meets one-on-one with the classroom teacher. This is an excellent time that allows the child and family to make connections with the teacher before the school year begins. Please bring your child’s school supplies to this meeting so they are ready for the first day of school.

Right after you meet with your child’s teacher, you will have the opportunity to do a self-guided tour throughout the building (like an Open House). During this time, you and your child will be able to meet other teachers and support staff as well as begin to get acquainted with the building’s layout and facilities. (This day-long event is in place of the “Meet Your Teacher” event that had been held in the evening in previous years.)

Parent Handbook for 2021-22

Please take a few moments to read through the 2021-22 Parent Handbook. It can be found on our school website at https://www.moundsviewschools.org/snaillake. Once there, click on “Parent Resources” and then on “Parent Handbook”. This handbook applies to both kindergarten centers and all six elementary schools in Mounds View Public Schools. Topics in the handbook include: communication, attendance, transportation, building security procedures, lunch and recess, technology, health services, travel plans form, and so much more!
