ASSESSMENT UPDATE
Assistant Superintendent of Student Learning Dr. Becky FitzPatrick, and Assessment Coordinator Amanda Czerniuk, Ed.S, presented to the Board of Education the District's Assessment Update for winter 2022.
The assessments that were reviewed during this presentation were:
- Kindergarten Individual Development Survey (KIDS)
- Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) | K-8
In the presentation, it was said that over 85% of District 25 Kindergarten students demonstrated readiness on the KIDS assessment during the 20-21 school year. Of note, the window for data collection was extended from the typical first 60 days of school to over the course of 7 months. With the return to the 60-day window next year, it is expected that results will return to more typical readiness levels.
Dr. FitzPatrick and Mrs. Czernick also reported the results from the MAP winter assessment. The results indicated that District 25 K-8 students are growing but not yet to pre-pandemic projections, which is consistent with NWEA research on other school districts across the country. Even so, District 25 is trending above national averages on the MAP by showing less of a decline in percentile points from pre-pandemic testing to current testing.
The District plans to share an assessment update for the Spring of 2022 at a School Board meeting later this school year.
