Montessori Moments

What is a Montessori Moment? It's those little things that happen along the way that show the glimmers of a Montessori education. It can be as simple as watching a sixth grade student bending down to tie a second grade student's shoe in the middle of a soccer game or as amazing as two students learning a math game and asking to recreate the game as a work on the shelf to share with their friends.

In our everyday hustle to get through life, we sometimes forget to stop and take in the beauty that is happening around us. Some Lower Elementary students found a caterpillar on the side walk last week, and, instead of letting the moment pass them by, they "adopted" the caterpillar, researched it, and are now waiting to see its transition. That is a Montessori Moment!

Have you seen this at home? Has your child volunteered to cook dinner? Does your older child help your younger child navigate daily life? Do you foster a sense of community within your home? Please share with us those great moments at home. Be sure to stop, take a breath, and take in the beauty of a Montessori education.

Lego League

Students in Lego League were excited to unbox the practice competition mat and Lego blocks that were generously provided by Bosch. This week they will begin constructing the mission models, setting up the mission field, and continue their progress in finding a solution to a problem faced by humans during long-duration space exploration. They look forward to receiving and programming the robot.
