Hello Team Bear Creek,

There are a few new items and a series of reminders regarding important upcoming dates.

I have to tell you I am pretty excited to say "SCHOOL STARTS IN 8 DAYS" ... let the countdown begin.

There may be more to report tomorrow after the AISD Board of Trustees meet this afternoon ... I will report any essential items in a separate email and I am sure the district will provide updates as well.

These meetings are designed for ALL PARENTS to review policies and procedures for the 2021 - 2022 school year. We will take a deep dive into the parent handbook and allow plenty of time for questions.

I feel like it is your responsibility to attend one of these so you are aware of your school and how things are handled.

Each night will begin with a presentation and then the meeting will open into a Q & A. To be clear the presentation each night is the same, I am offering three evenings to accommodate schedules.

These will be done via ZOOM to allow for screen sharing and for ease of access.

You will receive an email to the PRIMARY EMAIL YOU LISTED WHEN REGISTERING YOUR CHILD welcoming your child to their new class on Wednesday evening.

Why on Wednesday?

Remember all of this hinges on who is accepted as a virtual learner. So we will have to wait for students to be accepted as virtual learners AND for parents to formally accept the virtual learning placement. This will be complete by the end of the day on Tuesday. Thus the next possible day to release class placement information is Wednesday.

Per district protocols we WILL BE allowed to host an in-person meet the teacher event as long as there is intentional and deliberate staggering of families.

Each teacher has created a Sign Up Genius to provide for smaller groups of families who will be coming at irregular times throughout the day.

Within the email that gives you your teacher assignment there will be a link to the Sign Up Genius.

YOU MUST ADHERE TO YOUR TIME AND PLEASE LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE COMING INTO THE BUILDING.

There will be a virtual event for those who request it. Please contact me directly (ONCE YOUR RECEIVE YOUR CLASS PLACEMENT) to request a virtual appointment and I will coordinate logistics. Please note it will most likely be held on Monday, August 16, 2021.

All new Pre-K and Kindergarten students will be issued a district iPad. I will host a pickup event on Sunday, August 15 from 9am to 12pm here at school in the community room. Just pull up to the fire lane and STAY IN YOUR CAR. We will come to you and issue you the device.

If you were a second grade student last year you will need to drop off your old iPad and pick up your new Chromebook.

I will host a swap on Sunday, August 15 from 12pm to 4pm here at school in the community room. Just pull up to the fire lane and and STAY IN YOUR CAR. Please have your old iPad in a bag with the charger and we will come to you and assign you a Chromebook and collect the iPad.

Bear Creek’s Campus Advisory Council is a committee of teachers, administration, parents, business and community representatives, and other campus staff. The mission of a CAC is to promote excellence in education for all students through broad-based representation.

CACs provide valuable input to principals, who ultimately have decision-making responsibility for their campuses. Specific functions of CACs include providing review and comment on:

• Campus Educational Program

• Campus Performance

• Campus Improvement Plan

• Campus Staff Development Plan

• Campus-Level Waiver Requests to the State

• Campus Budget

Deadline for applications is Friday, August 13, 2021.

The new school year is beginning and Bear Creek PTA is looking for Cub volunteers! Two important needs include a Yearbook Coordinator and volunteer crossing guards. Please email cubvolunteers@gmail.com if you are able to support in these areas!
