Dia De Los Muertos - SMS Ofrenda

Smoke, Power, Fires, Earthquakes -

It has been a tough October as the greater Bay Area has suffered through fires, earthquakes, power outages, and smoke/air quality issues. I realize that these types of events take a toll on our greater community, whether our Sequoia families are directly or indirectly impacted.

Over the last couple of weeks, I have spent much of my time preparing contingency plans and monitoring air quality/media updates on these events so we can best serve our students. My top priorities are to maintain a safe environment for students on campus and to make sure there is clear communication to Sequoia families.

Rest assured, the decisions made about these matters are made with care and appreciation for the potential inconvenience they may cause, and in conjunction with the district as a whole and the various government agencies involved. I look forward to the day when outside events do not necessitate Robo-calls or emails to your homes.

I do want to share that despite these events, the education of your children here at Sequoia continues at the high level we expect. The dedication of our teachers has been evident every day in classrooms and the daily activities we observe remain dynamic, collaborative, and rigorous.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Mr. Honey
