6th Grade Social Studies

Students are learning about the geographical features of Ancient Egypt and Kush and how they affected early settlement in those areas. They used their bodies to model the Nile River, the Mediterranean Sea, the Red Sea, and the Libyan, Nubian, and Arabian desserts. Those representing water moved their arms to show waves or the direction of the current, while the desert whispered, "hot and dry". Other students then stood in areas that they believed would be good for settlement and explained why focusing on the factors of topography, water, and vegetation.
