Ms. Coyne's College Update
FAFSA Season Is Upon Us!
As we gear up for second semester, we are also starting FAFSA season. What is the FAFSA? The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is an essential piece of the college puzzle; students must file the FAFSA if they are attending college.
The FAFSA is a federal form that determines a student's eligibility for loans, grants, and work-study. It only takes into account income and assets, not grades or test scores. In order to file the FAFSA, both students and parents need to file their taxes as soon as possible, as the FAFSA requires this information.
Please keep in mind that the FAFSA is always free. Never pay to file the FAFSA! Also keep deadlines in mind; the state deadline is April 1st, but most colleges have FAFSA deadlines that are much earlier.
I am available for FAFSA filing help, and there will be FAFSA workshops coming up in February. Please make an appointment with me if you need help filing the FAFSA.
