Every Student, Every Day

Friday, May 1

Please mark your calendar to join us on Friday morning, May 15th between 7:30 - 9:30am for our Hosp Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast! (This is a come and go event.)

Whether you've covered lunch or recess, been a mystery reader or WatchDOG, dropped off food donations or helped in the classroom or work room......everything you've contributed, big and small, has a tremendous impact on our students and staff every single day.

We at Hosp couldn't be more grateful for the amazing parents and families that have supported us this 1st year, so please let us do something for you in return. We hope you can join us!

Our 1st carnival was amazing!

Congratulations to the Hosp PTA, especially Deb Morris and her team, for putting together such a wonderful, fun-filled carnival & silent auction last weekend! We've heard from so many students and parents that it was the best school carnival they had ever been to and we couldn't agree more.

And a big thanks to all our parent volunteers who gave their time so generously or donated cakes & soda pop to the games - without you these types of events aren't possible, so the staff, PTA and our students thank you!

Reminder - Lost & Found will be donated on Fri, May 8

Please remind your student to look for their missing items! It's painful to see so many things not picked up but it's time for Spring cleaning. All items will be thrown away or donated on May 8th.

There's still time to vote!

Be sure to stop by Palio's Pizza Cafe on Legacy Dr for lunch or dinner and vote for your teacher. The Hosp teacher with the most nominations on May 8th will receive FREE Pizza for a Month - what a treat for him or her!

Field Day Schedule Now Available

Coach Morgan & Coach Silmi have all the information you need to know about Field Day taking place on May 11. Please note this is an ALL DAY event for every grade level.

Parents are welcome to come watch their students - just check in at the office for your visitor badge before joining the fun! Click here for the PE website with all the details!

4th Grade - 40 Book Challenge Update

Fourth-graders have been encouraged this school year to read at least 40 books, representing various genres (poetry, traditional literature, realistic fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, informational nonfiction, and biography/autobiography/memoir.

Students who have completed the 40-Book Challenge are featured on a bulletin board in the main hallway. Congratulations to these fourth-graders: Sethu, Anirudh, Suhani, Pavan, Ishita, Iniya, Timi, Sadaf and Aditi!

We’ve got a few more who are close to finishing the challenge. We are proud of all of our fourth-graders, who are stretching themselves as readers and scholars and who are increasing their stamina, confidence and critical-thinking skills.

Michelle Chapa, ESL Teacher

Please meet our English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher, Michelle Chapa. This is Mrs. Chapa's 17th year to teach and her 6th year with FISD, where she works at two different elementary campuses, Hosp and Sem. Michelle pulls students in small groups K-5 to work on English and teaches listening, speaking, writing and reading. She also collaborates with teachers by making accommodations for students who may need it.

Michelle was born and raised in Michigan, but has now lived in Texas longer than her childhood and has lived in Frisco for 14 years. She's also been married 14 years and has two children - Nathan who's in 3rd grade at Nichols and Madelynn who's in 6th grade at Pioneer - plus a little white dog named Otis. In her free time, Michelle likes to spend time with her family, read and craft.

"I love working with our students at Hosp!" says Michelle.

1 Week Left to Give Teacher Input

Click here to read Mr. Else's letter regarding the FISD policy for teacher requests and how to provide your input. Feedback is due to Mr. Else by May 8th.

Artists at Work in Mrs. London's Room

Creativity is illuminating from the art room this past month. Students K-5th are learning clay techniques such as how to make a pinch pot monster, coil pot, owl, bowl, and how a kiln is used. Ask your students all about what they've been learning!
