Technology Update
Last year, we purchased 10 new iPad 5s with Title money. I have received them and have requested that Matthew install the "teacher master" on all of these new iPads. You are allowed to download apps onto this iPad, using your personal Apple ID. Paid apps are your responsibility.
Once I give you the new iPad 5 (and if you don't want it or won't use it, please tell me!), I'll ask for the iPad you've been using. I'll get Matthew to wipe it clean and make it into a student machine and re-distribute it.
As we purchase and install apps on the student machines, Apple has closed the loophole where schools could purchase one app and put it on hundreds of machines. So, we'll have to pay for the apps now! We will have to be extra diligent in asking ourselves, "What are we doing with this app?" "Is there a web-based version that can do the same thing?"
If you'd like to request an app to go on your student iPads, you first request it through me. I'll need the app name, the iTunes link to the app, and the cost per app. I will then forward it on to Becky and Mickie. We will then see if other teachers/schools have requested the same app (hoping to get a volume discount). We will also look to see if there is a free app or website that may be comparable.
If we decide that the paid app is the best way to go--and we have the money for it--we will then pass that on to Pat/Matthew.
I NEED THE ABOVE INFORMATION TO ME BY NEXT FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, so we can get the apps approved, paid for, and onto the student machines.
That is the rigorous/complicated part! After this initial app purchasing, if you find a website you'd like unblocked or an app to purchase/install, you will simply follow this flowchart:
Also...remember, the more apps you have on your machine (teacher or student), the slower it may run--and the battery will drain faster!
Clear as mud? I am going to post a video to my Seesaw page (have you signed up for it yet?) and explain this again. Maybe hearing my golden voice will make everything clear!
Hey, look! Pictures and text! I just created a multi-media presentation!
