Twelfth Night
2. Viola is dressed as a random guy named Cesario.
3. Olivia is sad because her brother just died in a shipwreck.
4. Cesario, who is Viola in disguise, is Duke Orsino's servant.
5. In the play, Sir Toby is Olivia's uncle.
Similarities
2. Cesario and Sebastian, which is Viola, to confess his love to Olivia for him.
3. Duke and Viola (disguised), become friends.
4. "Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them."
5. Duke and Viola end up falling in love.
-In the movie, Viola, who is disguised as Sebastian, starts unpacking and her tampons fall out of her bag. To make it seem normal to Duke she sticks it in her nose, and says it is for nose bleeds.
-In the play, Sir Andrew was always drunk.
Farce Comedy:
- In the movie, at the game against Cornwall, Sebastian comes back from London, and gets confronted about being a girl in the middle of the game.
-In the play, Sir Toby and Sir Andrew mistake Sebastian for Cesario who is actually Viola.
Comedy of Manners:
- Viola/Sebastian is at the restaurant when Monique arrives unexpectedly, Viola/Sebastian broke up with her infront of the entire restaurant and said, "..when i close my eyes, i see you for what you truly are, which is UGLY!"
- In the play, Sir Andrew was drunk they would always insult eachother.
Comedy of Ideas
- Orsino said, "Our fancies are more giddy and unfirm, more longing, wavering, sooner lost and worn, than women's are."(act 2 scene 4). In translation, Duke is saying that a man's love is greater than a woman's love because their hearts are bigger.
- When Viola was attending Cornwall, the girls soccer team got cut, so she decided to try out for the guy's soccer team. The entire team and coach laughed at her, because they think that girls are not as good as guys.
