JM Staff Bulletin

Week of October 12, 2015

Dear dedicated JM Teachers and Staff,

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation for your supportiveness during the first 6 weeks of school. This job is INSANE, but I know it would be even more difficult without your kindness and love.

The volunteers who came last week for our Latino/a Literature Read-In and Betty Durso, our No Bully System trainer, both commented on the positivity they felt while visiting our school community. This is a testament to what we can do as a team! Sorry if this is a bit cheesy, but I am so proud of each and every staff members' contribution to Joaquin Miller.

In the coming week, the ILT will be meeting to analyze current and past assessment data and survey data to create specific SMARTE goals for us in the areas of Mathematics, Balanced Literacy, and Social Emotional Learning. Additionally, we will narrow in on 1-3 instructional practices on which to focus our next 6 week professional development plan that is purposeful and meaningful.

Lastly, Ray and I will be leading the next Parent Education Night on October 22nd. I hope that some of you will be able to come join us. Our plan is to engage the parents in a mathematics lesson using the socio-mathematical norms and standards for mathematical practice. :)

Thanks and have a fantastic week,
