Concert Band Connection
April 17-21
This week in Concert Band!
- We do NOT have block schedule for the next 3 weeks! Please plan to bring your instrument every day! 8th grade STAAR Testing on Tuesday, 7th grade STAAR on Wednesday.
- Reminder to please record Concert Bb, Ab, and F Scales into Canvas under the 4th Nine Weeks by Tomorrow evening. (percussion will do in class on Monday with Mr. Joslin)
- Smart Music test due last friday over Appalachian Folk Dance! Turn that in if you haven't yet done so!
- Memorial HS Spring Festival this Friday Information is below (April 21)
- No sectionals or band rehearsals outside of class this week, except for percussion on Thursday after school 3:45-4:35PM!
- HHS Percussion Concert is also this Friday, April 21 at 7 PM - Come support your percussion friends and all their hard work this semester!
- May 1st is our incoming Beginner Band Information Meeting and we need some student AND parent volunteers! PLEASE Sign up here by Monday! It will be fun!
Spring Music Festivals - April 21, Spring Concert May 4
- THIS Friday, April 21, the Symphonic Band will be traveling to Memorial HS to perform for a judge. All 4 bands (including beginners) will play at this festival. Afterward, we are all headed to Pinstack in Allen for food and fun! No money or form is needed for this trip. We will return to school at the end of advisory for 7th and 8th periods. Students will miss periods 1-advisory.

- 9:45 AM - Beginner Band
- 10:15 AM - Concert Band
- 10:35 AM - Symphonic Band
- 10:55 AM - Wind Ensemble
- Students need to wear bright blue band shirt and dark colored pants/leggings for this trip. Shorts are OK, but need to be school appropriate length if possible. They also need to wear close toed shoes (like tennis shoes) so they can bowl!
- Students will meet in the band hall 1st period on Friday.

- Our last performance for the year is our Spring Concert on Thursday, May 4th (required and graded) at Maus MS. We are super excited for these last musical events to show off your awesome musicians!
Six Flags - Saturday, May 6
- Our Six Flags trip is coming up on Saturday, May 6th.
- Students will need to wear their blue band shirt for this trip. If you lost yours, please bring $10 for another one this week. Students can wear hats, sunglasses, and are encouraged to wear sunscreen when they arrive at Maus. We will also have sunscreen for them to reapply at lunch time if needed.
- We will meet at Maus MS band hall at 9 AM for some reminders, to meet your group leaders and to check in. We will bus students out to Six Flags and back. We will arrive home around 7 PM.
- Students should try to bring a cell phone to have for the day if possible. If they don't have one, they will be required to stay with another student all day that does have one. Please be prepared to share your cell phone number with your parent chaperone in charge of your group.
- Reminder - if you have a season pass, you will need that on the day of the trip with you AND you will be responsible for paying for your own food.
- We are full on parent chaperones and will be communicating with you soon!
- We will use Remind texting to communicate throughout the day. Be sure your CHILD'S PHONE is set up for these. Text @mausband22 to 81010.

- Audition Schedule is here - please check out the multiple day tabs and find your name. If you see any issues, please let your teacher know.
- ALL Maus Band students will complete this as it's an assessment (even if they are moving next year or not doing band).
- If you have any questions about band auditions, please don't hesitate to let a band director know so we can clarify for you! :-)
- 8th graders - all of your audition music, procedures and information has been posted on a Canvas module. If you have not yet printed your music to start practicing, please do so now.
- If you are not continuing into high school band, you will be playing for me during advisory period sometime the last week of April (April 24-28) so please be prepared. This is for your grade!
- If you ARE continuing into high school band, your audition with the HHS, MHS, FHS or IHS director is your grade (100!)
