Of Mice and Men - Final Assessment
Argue about Lingering Questions in the Book
Overview
Your Of Mice and Men test will be your performance in OMAM Chairs. You will need to argue the questions below.
Two rows of chairs will face each other. One row will argue "yes" for a question, while the other row will argue "no"
Process
To begin, you will choose which side you would like to argue for a given question.
We will take turns listening to different sides of the question until discussion ends. Then we will move to the next question.
Questions to be Argued
- Was George right to kill Lennie?
- Does Curley's wife deserve sympathy?
- Should Candy have shot his own dog?
- Will George go on to find happiness?
- Does Crooks have a harder life than Candy?
- Does Candy have the right to be mad at Curley's wife when he finds her dead?
Scoring
For each comment/argument you make, you will receive 2 points, up to 12 points for 6 turns.
Comments/arguments must be thoughtful, relate to the book, and professional. If a comment does not meet these requirements, it will not count.
After 6 turns, you will earn 25 XP for each comment.
How Should I Prepare?
Take a few minutes and read through the questions. Write down which side you plan to start on (Yes or No) and a few reasons why you think that way.
