Lions Park Paw Prints
Letter from the Principal
Dear Lions Park Families,
It was a special week at Lions Park! Wednesday was the 100th day of school. Our second graders celebrated by dressing up as 100 year olds and doing fun activities. It was also the 1000th day of school for our fifth graders (approximately 180 days x 5 years= 900 days + 100 days of fifth grade= students that are 1000 days brighter!).
Our fifth graders definitely shone brightly in their fifth grade musical! They were brave, poised and talented as they sang and danced in "Tut Tut". I first started at Lions Park in 2017. While I was thoroughly impressed with the 2018 and 2019 musicals, for the past three years I have watched the first show I view with tears. I am not a very emotional person, so in 2022 I thought it was the first year post-pandemic that caused such strong feelings. Last year I thought maybe it was special because it was my daughter's class. This year I realized it is special because the performance showcases how much students have learned and grown in every way during elementary school. Every child shines in that performance whether they sing in the ensemble, have a lead role, spend hours painting set pieces, run the lights or dance down the aisle. As you look at the stage, you see kids who have struggled through various challenges. No matter what their path through elementary school has been, they are all successful in the production.
Many thanks to Mrs. Koehlinger who makes the whole thing happen, Mrs. Merrill who provides a beautiful set and interesting props, the fifth grade team (Ms. Logan, Mrs. Murphy, Mrs. Pavlowski, Mr. Ruth, Ms. St. Denis, Mr. Vlaming and Ms. Walsh) who support in countless ways and the many other Lions Park staff who enable us to put on a production of this caliber. Thanks also to our parents who provide costumes for their students and to our PTO who pay for the professional sound and lighting (done at a reduced cost by Show Co AV) and Mrs. Morton and Mrs. Kronforst who took care of flowers, programs and the cast party. At the center of all of this are our students of whom we could not be more proud!!!
Warmly,
Katie Kelly
