Principal Lewis' Sunday Update for the week of 5/23/22
Sunday Call for week of May 23rd, 2022
Good evening Sierra Madre Families, this is Mrs. Lewis, your principal. I can hardly believe that this is our 2nd to last Sunday call of the year! Thank you for coming along on the ride this year at SME! It has been turbulent but I am so proud of all of the student progress!
Here are the announcements for this week:
Monday, May 23rd we will have our BRAVO morning assembly starting at 7:50am, with the help of my principals for the day, Nolan and Isla Bischoff. If you got an email from Geannie saying your child is receiving a Spotlight Award, please head up to the field gate on Hermosa, with your mask, to be let in at 7:45am. Then right after the Spotlight Assembly, we will meet on the front lawn to do our Parent Volunteer Recognition with the final Coffee + Tea + Me at 8:30am.
Wednesday, May 25th is our last virtual SSC meeting of the year, at 4:00pm. Please join by clicking on the link in the SMORE.
Thursday, May 26th our 4th/5th grade elective, Song and Dance Maniacs, will put on a show for the parents at 6pm in the auditorium. All guests will be asked to show proof of vaccination, or negative COVID test from the last 48hours, AND will be asked to wear a mask at ALL times inside the auditorium.
Friday, May 27th is our final Playday of the year with the theme, Luau. Your child may bring a non-electronic toy to school to play with during their extended recess.

AFB
Thank You for a Wonderful Year!!!
Thank you to all the amazing SME families and supporters who participated in AFB's fundraising efforts this school year. Together, we surpassed our goal of $200,000 and raised $253,000! This allows SME to fund all our Arts Education programming and vital staff needs for the 2022-2023 school years, and put extra funds aside for future needs. AFB couldn't do it without this outstanding community, and we are so grateful for your support!!
For more event information, please be sure to visit our school website at sme.pusd.us
We are excited to see all of our students tomorrow morning at SME where we launch our journey of nurturing learners, and growing leaders.
And now, for this week’s riddle. Why did the student eat their homework? Don’t forget to check the very bottom of my SMORE for the riddle answer.
Continue to stay healthy and safe! Bye Bye!
