Mr. Mize Bio
Welcome to DHS! I am excited to begin my fourth year as an assistant principal in the Dunlap School District.
Prior to arriving at Dunlap High School, I served as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Dunlap Middle. I began my career as a history teacher for seven years at Knoxville Jr. High in Knoxville, IL. During my time at Knoxville, I served as a high school football coach, baseball coach, junior high student council advisor, and track coach.
I graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School and earned my bachelor's degree from Knox College while playing college football. I also earned a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Missouri Baptist University and my administrative certification from SIU Edwardsville.
My wife, Cara, and I live in the Dunlap School District and have two boys who keep us busy and on our toes. I enjoy spending time with my family, attending extracurricular events, and following my favorite sports teams including the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Mrs. Vaughn Bio and Duties
I have worked for the Dunlap district for 4.5 years and am mom to one Dunlap graduate and a DHS senior. I am Southern by birth and a Mechanical Engineer by trade. Following 8 years in the engineering field in South Carolina, I became a stay-at-home mom with my children in 2003 and was blessed to continue in that role for the next 15 years. During that time, my husband was transferred to Peoria, IL with CAT, and we relocated to the Dunlap district. In 2019, I chose to return to work as Secretary at Dunlap Middle School so that I could stay on the same schedule as my children. I loved working with the DMS staff, students, and families for 3 years and now have the opportunity to serve as the Principal's Secretary at DHS this school year. I am looking forward to meeting staff, students, and families at DHS as well as seeing the familiar faces of former middle schoolers.
