10th graders are currently brainstorming topics for their Personal Project. Please ask your child about their plan and thoughts! There are some AMAZING potential projects waiting to happen out there!
FROM THE STUDENT SERVICES OFFICE
JUNIORS AND SENIORS!
The Knox County College and Career Fair will be held during the school day on September 25 at the Jacob's Building at Chilhowee Park. Juniors and seniors are invited to attend and transportation is provided. Permission/Medical forms are available from your child's grade level Advisory teacher or in Student Services. These forms must be turned in no later than September 20 to Ms. Bast in Student Services. If your child would rather not miss class to attend, an evening College Fair will be held at Hardin Valley Academy beginning at 6 PM. Parents are welcome to attend the evening fair with their child.SENIORS!
Seniors in the college application process have been encouraged to meet with Ms. Bast to talk through their applications. Parents are always welcome to join their student in that meeting. To set up an appointment, students may stop by, email or call 594-4477 ext 75214

YEAR 1: The major assessment for fall semester is the Individual Oral Presentation (IOP). In early September, students will choose the dates to deliver their presentations; the date they choose is the date they will be required to present. Presentations must be completed by Dec. 7. Books for the year are on the summer assignment page in order of how we're reading them. Students may be able to find a PDF of Ballad of the Sad Cafe online. Students now have access to a sign up sheet and need to have signed up for a date by this Friday! (9/7)

Students should expect weekly quizzes (Thursday or Friday). The first quiz will be on Friday, August 10th, over elements 1-88. Students should know element names, correct spelling, and symbol. Much like in Chemistry 1, students should expect to have homework every class. Students have their first assessment due on Oct 30/Nov 1. It is the Research Presentation. This month, students need to research two to three World Theatre Traditions from the given list and have their specific tradition chosen by the middle of the month.
NEWS:
Theatre students do not "sit" for an exam. There are three External Assessments that are paced out throughout the school year but will be complete by the end of March.
