AISD Trustees vote for tax rate decrease, staff pay raises
The Aledo ISD Board of Trustees voted for a 4% general pay increase for Aledo ISD staff on Monday night while also decreasing the overall tax rate by nearly $0.09 in adopting the 2021-2022 fiscal year budget.
The 4% general pay increase is among the top salary increases among area school districts for 2021-2022. The district also targeted more significant increases in pay for particularly hard-to-fill positions such as bus drivers, special education aides and instructional aides. The increase is at least $2,400 for teachers and librarians, and the salary for a first-year teacher in Aledo ISD will increase from $56,000 to $58,100.
Over the last three years, the overall tax rate for Aledo ISD has been lowered by $0.2021 as rates have been compressed after the passing of House Bill 3 in 2019. The decrease has been on the Maintenance and Operations side of the budget, decreasing from $1.1700 to $0.9679.
Bond Progress Committee presents Aledo ISD Community Update on Aledo Bond 2019
The Aledo ISD Bond Progress Committee released on Thursday a Community Update to help district stakeholders track the progress of the Aledo Bond 2019.
The Bond Progress Committee - led by Aledo ISD parent and alumni Matt Morris - has met nine times as a committee and twice held community meetings over the past 20 months. The group of 23 community members, parents and teachers - all of whom served on the district’s 2019 Bearcat Growth Committee - has been charged by Trustees to review the progress of the bond, to review the financial status of and expenditures related to the implementation of the bond, to meet quarterly, and to provide regular reports of its work and findings to trustees at public board meetings.
The BPC’s report updates the community on the self-directed guidelines set by the Bearcat Growth Committee when forming the Aledo Bond 2019 recommendation, which included not raising the tax rate, borrowing within the district’s limits, expanding capacity at the elementary and middle school levels for as long as possible, and making data-driven decisions based on consistently accurate demographic numbers. The $149,950,000 Aledo Bond 2019 passed in November 2019 with 62 percent of voters approving.
“The BPC is excited to report that the expectations we set for Aledo Bond 2019 as members of the Bearcat Growth Committee have been met or exceeded,” Morris said. “Through sound financial decision-making, being prudent with our tax dollars, and being thoughtful about building and growth in our district, the Aledo ISD has consistently delivered exceptional results with one year remaining for completion of the 2019 bond projects.”

Update to Bearcat Care Clinics
AISD is proud to offer our Bearcat Care Clinics in partnership with the Parker County Hospital District (PCHD). The service affords the opportunity for students and staff to have a telemedicine visit with a family physician or licensed nurse practitioner with the PCHD in the nurse’s clinic at our campuses. Previously, we have made this available to students and staff, whether they are at school or at home.
Due to the incredible demand on the Bearcat Care Clinics right now, as well as on our partner PCHD, we need to prioritize the cases of students and staff who are at school and encourage anyone needing a visit and/or COVID test who is NOT at school or work, to seek options outside of the nurse’s clinic first, like a pediatrician or family doctor or urgent care center for evaluation, testing, and treatment.
To best manage wait times and facilitate the best and fastest care to everyone needing it, we encourage families and staff members who are not at school to seek options away from the Bearcat Care Clinic first. Thanks for the cooperation with this change!
District Beginning-of-Year Math & Reading Screeners set to begin
In an effort to understand where each of our students is academically at the start of the year, monitor their progress during the school year and align instruction for their individual needs,

Below is information related to the beginning-of-year (BOY) math and reading screeners. After the close of the assessment window and reports are generated, parents will be notified of when to expect student results.
