OCAC Newsletter
Welcome back, Trojans!
Director's Corner - A Message from Dr. EPH
Wow, where does the time go? We are already five weeks into the semester. I hope that you are each settling into the first few weeks of the semester. Some of you may feel well-adjusted while others are feeling like this is still a wild roller coaster ride. I know it is hard to imagine at this time, however before you know it you will begin to settle in and establish a sense of order and structure in your already hectic schedule. Ask most continuing students and they may say the first semester was the most challenging, whether it be the foundation or concentration year. Before you know it we will be nearing the end of this semester, however let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. For now we will focus on what we can expect for the remainder of this semester.
Congratulations to the Orange County Caucus on the launch of first newsletter for the 2014-15 academic year. The newsletters will provide you with information on the happenings at OCAC and other academic center locations. I encourage you to use this information to keep you informed and as a way to get involved in the various activities that are planned throughout semester.
If you can dream it, you can achieve it. –Zig Ziglar

4th Annual Orange County Stand Down, Sept 25-28.
Location: Tustin Army Reserve, 2345 Barranca Parkway
The Orange County Stand Down will be a 3-day event, set up like a military base camp in which homeless and at-risk veterans as well as their families will be able to come in off the streets and receive basic social services from a variety of community and government agencies.
Volunteers can register through the OC Stand Down Web Site at: http://www.ocstanddown.org/ (click on "Volunteer Registration").
There are only Friday afternoons (11am-3:30pm, 3:00pm-7:30pm) shifts available and all day Sunday shifts available now. They especially need volunteers for tear down and cleanup!!!
If you register to volunteer, you are committed for that shift. Email Gillian directly with your shift choice at gillian@veteransfirstoc.org. Include name, address, phone number, email, and school affiliation, or fax application to (714) 547-8678.
MilSWC V.E.T.S. is also collecting toiletries for the OC Stand Down and the LA County Stand Down: please donate use or unused deodorant, soap, shampoo, toothpaste/toothbrushes. Donation boxes will be available at the student lounge.

"Think Well Be Well" Wellness Corner
Are you stressed out? Do you feel like you never have time for anything other than school work?
Stress no more!!
The Orange County Caucus presents their "Think Well Be Well" committee.
We provide a break from all the school work and allow you a chance to get some "me" time.
We will be hosting monthly activities at the Orange County campus in order to provide some fun and relaxing stress relievers.
There will be a meditation activity coming up in the next couple weeks, so make sure to look out for it in the next newsletter and around campus!!
For any questions, please contact Sarah McClellan, First Year Representative for the Orange County Caucus, at slmcclel@usc.edu.
