Reflections from Mrs. Elder's Desk 1-15-2023
Last week, Tiger admin began disaggregating and reflecting on the fall grade and referral data to address the needs of our school community. These data points have improved significantly from the previous year. Our data highlights the following:
Grade Data
Approximately 60 fewer fall failures compared to fall 2021.
Tenth-grade students had the most failures in the fall semester.
Behavior Data
Approximately 230-ish fewer referrals.
Failure to follow directions and skipping class were the categories that were the issues of concern in 2021. In contrast, failure to follow directions and classroom referral were areas of concern in the fall of 2022.
Tiger admin continues to analyze the Panorama teacher survey data you submitted last November. We will reflect on the feedback and be intentional in addressing the concerns expressed. One of our goals is to create a Consol Cares experience for every stakeholder in our campus community. This will include assessing the values we uphold, our beliefs, and our commitments that will strengthen everyone within our campus community.
Many of you have gone the extra mile to help these students succeed, and your work is appreciated. During leadership meetings, we will continue discussing additional opportunities to help those students who need support, including Tiger Reset. We welcome any ideas you have to offer.
Tiger admin also continues to meet with students about behavioral issues and seek solutions to deter them from behaviors that are nonconducive to their academic growth. We will not waiver from the standard we have set, and it takes all of us to ensure we uphold the standard of excellence. Nevertheless, we will continue examining viable solutions to help ALL students achieve and reflect on our practices to address the concerns of students who struggle.
