Vision & Hearing Screening Volunteers Needed!
As in past years, we will have our vision and hearing screening in the fall. Our screening this year is scheduled for Monday, October 23rd, 2023. The screening usually takes place in the morning. We will provide the exact times as soon as they are announced by the district screening team. We rely on the assistance of parent volunteers to work with our screening team. There are a variety of important jobs that parents do, including assisting the team with the screenings, record keeping and “crowd control”. Please consider this opportunity to work with us!
If you are interested in volunteering, please email the school nurse at bschlee@nsd.org with the following information:

Volunteer Trainings for NEW to Cottage Lake families/adults
Attention NEW to Cottage Lake families,
At Cottage Lake, we hold Volunteer Trainings for all adults working at our school. These are similar to the district volunteer video/training, but specific to Cottage Lake. I ask that each adult who volunteers at Cottage Lake to participate in the training once while I am the Principal. During this training, I will note specifics about supporting students at Cottage Lake and volunteering in general. Parents do not need to sign-up or register for a training. Each training will run approximately 30 minutes in length.
The Volunteer Trainings that have been scheduled so far this school year are:
- September 28 @ 12:00 PM
Parents do not need to attend multiple trainings; you need to attend one if you are new to Cottage Lake.

Volunteer Needed: Reflections Art Committee Chair
We’re looking for a volunteer to lead Cottage Lake Elementary’s submissions to this year’s national PTA Reflections art contest. This is a flexible, low time commitment way to get involved and help foster the arts in our school community. This volunteer would work with our Communications VP on spreading the word and help answer questions from contestants on submissions.
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.
More information can be found at:
https://www.pta.org/home/programs/reflections/startyourprogram.
Reach out to artdocent@cottagelakepta.org and president@cottagelakepta.org to sign up!

Dear Class Families,
The CLE PTA is kicking off the Cottage Lake Fun Run, Walk & Roll program on Monday, October

do the actual Fun Run, Walk & Roll on Thursday afternoon, October 12th. All funds raised will
support the various PTA programs at our school. PTA is a non-profit 501c3 organization that is
separate from NSD. All PTA programs support the Cottage Lake Elementary students, staff and
community. Our fundraising goal is to earn $20,000 for our school. To learn more about PTA
