"Kids go where there is excitement. They stay where there is love" Author unknown
Dear Lin Howe Viking Family,
As I am learning more about the Lin Howe community, I am so pleased with the systems that we have in place to support our neediest students. It is when our little ones are in crisis that we come together as a school community and support in times of need.
Occasionally there might be a child in crisis or you or your child may find yourself witnessing a child in crisis. Please be assured that if your child is facing a crisis or witnessing a crisis, we have a robust team trained to address and support students in need. This team is composed of a school counselor, nurse, psychologist, teachers and staff. We are fortunate to have Samantha Nelson (formerly Sica) as our School Counselor who works with our students individually, small groups and whole class. Mrs. Nelson is on campus Monday, Thursdays and every other Wednesday. We also have Nurse Amy Thiel on our campus Thursday and Fridays and Ms. Amy Katkov, our school psychologist is here everyday.
If there is ever a time that your child is in need, please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of our team. We will continue to strengthen our student support systems so that all of our Lin Howe students feel cared about and supported.

College Awareness Week November 12-15!
Next week Linwood E. Howe will be participating in College Awareness Week!
It is during the Elementary through Middle School years that the first goal - sharing information and building awareness about higher education opportunities - is essential and easiest done. For many students, the idea of college is not discussed in the home. Providing younger students with an opportunity to build a foundation of awareness about postsecondary education is critical. Building enthusiasm for educational attainment and an individual’s lifelong responsibility for career readiness can never start soon enough. These week’s activities will promote opportunities for younger students to dream big about their futures as we share information and build awareness about higher education.
Attached you will find the College Awareness Week Schedule.

Sponsor-A-Family!
CCUSD Sponsor-a-Family December Holiday Program
CCUSD recognizes that the holiday season can be stressful for families who are most in need. This year, CCUSD School and Family Support Services is coordinating various district-wide efforts to support our CCUSD families in need during the holiday season to increase the joy and lessen the stress.
At this time, we are excited to announce our Sponsor-a-Family Program. The program will enable one family to provide gifts for a family in need. Both families will remain anonymous. Prior to the Thanksgiving break, sponsor families will receive the list of wishes and needs for each member of one family. Our request is that the sponsor family purchase at least one wish and one need for each member listed. All gifts will be dropped off at the district office on December 16 or 17. School and Support Services staff will distribute the gifts on December 18 and 19. If you are able to make the holiday season special for another family, please click on the link below and complete the form.
