March

Character Day is Monday, March 2

Lake Road Elementary is hosting a Character Day to celebrate Read Across America Day on Monday, March 2nd. Individual students are welcome to dress up like their favorite book character.

School Carnival and Silent Auction!

We are having a school carnival and silent auction on Friday, April 3 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Every classroom will be entering an item into the auction and there will be other items too. Tickets can be purchased for $.25 each. There will be games to play and food to purchase: hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, cotton candy, pickles, potato ribbons, and drinks. Come out and enjoy a fun night with family and friends!

The Green Bear Program

The Green Bear Program is coming to Lake Road on March 26. This 30 minute program was created for students in pre-kindergarten through 5th grade which teaches students primary child abuse prevention. Their message to children is very simple (taken directly from the website):
  • Our bodies are private. No one should hug you, kiss you or touch you where you do not want to be hugged, kissed or touched.
  • If someone hugs, kisses or touches you where you do not want to be hugged, kissed or touched, it is OK to say, "NO!", then we always tell a grownup.
  • If someone touches you where you do not want to be touched, it is never the kid's fault.
  • Primary abuse prevention is a very important part of our class; we discuss secrets vs. surprise, never accepting gifts without the permission of the person in charge, prevention of abduction situations, internet dangers, etc.

For more information on The Green Bear Program, click here: http://www.greenbearmo.org/Parents.aspx. If you do not want your child to participate in this program, please contact Ms. Sheila in the office (573) 785-4392.

3rd Trimester Celebration - PLAY DAY!

Students following the Lake Road Elementary expectations third trimester will earn the privilege of participating in the 3rd Trimester Celebration, PLAY DAY, on Wednesday, May 20. Students must be Respectful, Outstanding, Cooperative, Kind and Safe in all areas of the school in order to participate. This includes the bus, cafeteria, hallway, classroom, playground, and bathroom. Students must earn a 90% on Class Dojo. You can connect to your parent account by visiting www.classdojo.com.
