📩Principal's Message:
We are officially heading into the home stretch of the school year. Students and staff will all be making our final preparations for the end of the school year to ensure our students are prepared for their next grade level.
This Week is ALL Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week! Administration and the Larsen PTA have been working behind the scenes to celebrate our teachers. Below you'll see some nice ideas for our students to celebrate their teachers. Another idea is to write a note to their favorite staff members sharing why they are important to them. Just a thought to consider; our LARSEN STAFF make our school a great place to learn!
As we begin CAASPP state testing and finish the school year, strong family engagement continues to be a critical part of student success at Larsen School. Parents are a child’s first teachers and important role models. Every parent can help their child to be prepared for state testing and to be responsible in school. Opportunities to connect with us include meeting appointments, email, Facebook, Twitter, GoToConnect, school site advisory councils, and PTA along with attending school events such as our upcoming Open House, Parent Workshops, and Parent Conferences as much as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your kiddos teacher at any time with questions, concerns, and/or suggestions.
I am thrilled to see you at our open-air Open House on Thursday, May 5th! Thank you for your part in our learning community. I’m looking forward to finishing the year strong with your partnership, our young scholars' hard work, and our wonderful staff's commitment.
Sincerely,
Marisol Guillen

CAASPP State Testing
As Larsen students are preparing to take the SBAC as a part of the CAASPP testing, students can take practice tests at home to prepare and understand the type of questions they will be given.
If you currently have a student enrolled in grades third and up, you may want to walk through the practice test with them. This practice can help your student understand the testing format and features, and is a great opportunity for them to know what type of questions they will be asked.
To see a practice test, visit the Online Practice and Training Tests Portal
Web page and click the Green Box for students: Practice Test
The tests are part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress System, or better known as CAASPP, and are one element of information that helps teachers, parents, and the student understand how well the student is meeting their grade level’s expectations.
The Smarter Balanced Summative Assessment tests will be taken in April and May. The English language arts and math tests will not be taken on the same day. The tests will include critical thinking and problem-solving questions. These assessments are not timed, so students will have plenty of time to complete their tests.
For more information about the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments you can visit: https://bealearninghero.org/in-the-classroom/smarter-balanced/
