Learner-led Conferences
Learner-led conferences are next month. The official parent/teacher conference day is October 7th. You will have the entire day to conduct conferences (regular work day hours). You do not have to conduct all conferences on that day. If you get some done ahead of time you may have the time to plan with your teams.
Leaners, Parents and Educators partner yearly at Wilson Elementary for learner-led conferences. Learner-led conferences are designed for the benefit of the parent and learner alike. Prior to your conference, your child's educator will sit with your child and discuss their learning. They will discuss how the information can best be shared with you, the parent. The learner will establish goals for their learning. Spending time discussing goals with both their educator and their parent helps learners take responsibility for their learning and provides relevance to the work they do throughout the year. Please feel free to ask questions of your learner and educator during the conference.
Educators, please add specific times, rotations, etc. that are appropriate for your grade level.
Additionally, after learner-led conferences have been complete, we will send an evaluation to parents asking about the information they received during the conference in case clarifications are needed.

Dyslexia for the Classroom Educator from Debbie Gaunt
I want to share an access code that allows professional staff to participate in a course titled,“Dyslexia for The Classroom Educator”. This course is designed for the classroom educator desiring to know the basics of dyslexia identification, potential classroom accommodations, as well as those needing to meet certification renewal requirements. Additional courses may be added in the future based on educator request and/or need. Questions about the course content and/or clarifications regarding dyslexia services should be directed to your campus dyslexia therapist.

Beginning of Year Assessments Grades Kindergarten - 8th Grade
Just a reminder that you can find information regarding beginning of year assessments in the Response to Intervention folder in Google Drive. If you have any questions regarding assessments, please do not hesitate to ask. The deadline to report BOY data to Eduphoria is September 25th.
NEW THIS YEAR - This year the content specialists (and instructional coaches at MS) will do some cross-district calibration for writing. For this reason, we need each grade level at each campus to submit 5 BOY writing samples that show:
- proficiency of year-end grade level writing expectations,
- developing proficiency towards year-end grade level writing expectations, and
- insufficient progress of year-end grade level writing expectations.
Each campus will submit a total of 15 writing samples for each grade level to their content specialist. The content specialist will bring the samples to our first content specialist meeting in September.
