DOCSTEACH APP
Engage in activities that will help you make sense of stories, events, and ideas of the past using documents from the holdings of the US National Archives. Choose an historical topic and challenge yourself with an activity. Or, find activities in a classroom set up just for you, using the code provided to you from the DocsTeach.org web site.
Create your own activity
Decide what you would like students to do with the assigned activity.
Begin a search for your primary documents
You will need to find documents to support your lesson.
President John Kennedy Assassination
I searched for documents that would give students the opportunity to look at how and when events happened during the JFK assassination.
Using Primary Sources
Finding primary sources and letting students get a glimpse of real historical documents is meaningful.
Adding documents to your activity
After you have selected all the documents for your activity, you add them by dragging the activities onto your activity window.
Add details to your activity
You will need to give your activity a title with expected outcomes for students to follow.
Adding a code for students to access your assignment
Once you are done creating your activity, you can access a classroom code for students to find your lesson. These codes are unique so that students find the activity quickly from the DocsTeach app.
DocsTeach App
Students will then download the DocsTeach App to access the lesson created.
Science, ELA, Humanities, and Math Activities
All subject areas can use primary source documents to teach or enhance a lesson. Students can find a sequence, focus on details, make connections, map history, weigh evidence, interpret data or see the big picture.
