JUDSON ISD 2021 NOVEMBER BOND INFORMATION

Are you curious about the upcoming Bond Election? Want to know more information about how bonds work? Each week we will be providing facts to keep you informed about the bond. Please contact Dr. Fields at mfields@judsonisd.org if you have any questions. Our goal is for 100 percent of the community to have their voices heard in this election.

What items are included in campus renovations?

The largest portions of the Judson ISD 2021 bond program are focused on significant campus renovations throughout Judson ISD. This bond program will impact every campus in the district.

Every school underwent a comprehensive facilities assessment to determine necessary facility upgrades and enhancements. Campus renovations are specific to each school, but include, as needed: HVAC, gymnasium HVAC, roof replacements, flooring, makerspace labs, site work, energy-efficient lighting, public address systems, playground improvements and shade structures, Career and Technology Education (CTE) programs, drainage improvements, safety, and security, and more.

Why is Judson ISD including a new elementary and middle school in this school bond program?

Judson ISD is still experiencing significant growth in student enrollment. Building a new elementary school (elementary #21) and a new middle school (middle school #6) will address the overcrowding and put the district in a position to accommodate increased student enrollment in the future. Keeping up with growth also enables the district to maintain smaller class sizes.

JISD Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The Judson ISD School Board issued a proclamation designating Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the district. Hispanic Heritage Month kicks off with the anniversary of the 1821 Independence Day of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. The month also encompasses the independence days for Mexico (Sept. 16) and Chile (Sept. 18).

We celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we would like to share with you all the beautiful ways our campuses are celebrating. We also encourage you to watch a video featuring a few of our Hispanic coaches as they reflect on their culture!

JISD SPOTLIGHTS - Rolling Meadows Elementary

On this week's JISD Spotlights, we would like to introduce someone who always goes above and beyond for our students at Rolling Meadows ES, Gina Ritterhouse. Most of us can agree that it is difficult to measure just how important a school nurse is these days. Yet, she approaches every situation with warmth and an open mind. Whether it is running a wheelchair out to a student on the playground, nursing an injured staff member, or visiting and escorting an ill student back to the clinic, she is always there!

"Our amazing Nurse Ritterhouse is reliable, caring, skilled, and dedicated to her students and school. She is more than just "putting on band-aids" and "holding on ice packs." She keeps our kids safe and heals them with love!" - Teacher, Kristine Adcock.

Rolling Meadows has been incredibly proud to be the home of Gina Ritterhouse since they opened their doors in 2010. She is not only highly knowledgeable and hard-working but is also truly loved by every one of the little wolves at her campus. Her principal, Ms. La Rue, said they wouldn't be able to do what they do without her. Judson ISD appreciates everything our nurses do daily to keep our JISD family safe.

Custodial Appreciation Week

This past week we celebrated National Custodial Appreciation Week, and Judson ISD wanted to thank our hard-working custodians for all they have done and continue to do to make sure we have schools and workplaces that are clean and safe. Below are photos of how our campuses thanked their campus custodians. Be sure to thank the JISD Custodial staff for everything they do make Judson ISD the place to be!

JISD Spotlights - Salinas Elementary School

On this week's JISD Spotlights, we would like to share with you what is happening inside the walls of Salinas Elementary School. As some of you may know, Mr. Silverman, Principal at Salinas, has a podcast and a blog. He thought it would be a great idea to start a podcast for the students at his campus. The purpose of the blog is to teach his students that they have a voice and that they can use their voices to tell their stories. The student voices can not only be heard locally but across the world.

"The one thing I love about the podcast is editing. Editing can be really hard; thinking about editing and learning about it can help me with the real world." - Breanna Murray, Student Editor for This Ranger Life Podcast

Please take the time to watch this Judson ISD Spotlights and learn more about Salinas' This Ranger Life Podcast. It is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and most places you listen to podcasts.
