University Library: CoB Newsletter
Fall 2020
Welcome Back to a Different Type of School Year
The recent pandemic has brought so many changes to everyday life. As we phase in and out of transitions, we at the University Library remain available for you and your student's academic goals. Because we are an e-preferred library, going fully remote gave us the opportunity to highlight the variety of virtual services and resources we already offer. This includes e-resource collections, chat services, research guides, and online tutorials. As we begin the Fall 2020 semester with you, we will have a mix of onsite and online service hours. The operating hours for the University Library is below.
Onsite:
Monday – Thursday: 11 AM – 5 PM
Friday: 11 AM – 4 PM
Saturday – Sunday: Closed
Remote Chat:
Monday – Thursday: 8 AM – 9 PM
Friday: 8 AM – 6 PM
Saturday: 9 AM – 6 PM
Sunday: 1 PM – 9 PM
Business Librarian Services
I maintain the library research guides for all subject areas taught in the College of Business. To supplement my remote services, I updated my Business Writing Guide. This guide provides resources for correspondence, resumes, business presentations, as well as help with the research, writing and citing process. In Blackboard, the link to this guide is available on the Library Research Guide page.
Until further notice, your students may potentially make same day appointments with me. Students schedule appointments on the welcome page of any research guide and attend online using the Webex link on the schedule appointment pop-up.
At this time, library instruction is available online and in-person during class time. Please share with me the assignment you would like for me to go over, so I can guide your students through the library databases they may need to access. If you prefer, I could create an online tutorial for your class.
If you would like to embed me in your courses, please let me know, and I will ask IT to add me. This way a student may message me directly through Blackboard.
APA 7th Edition
Human Resources Program and HR Hero
We identified HR Hero last year to help supplement our Human Resources program. This database is new to the academic world and has had a rocky start in providing services to meet our academic needs. However, we have maintained connection and are hopeful for a productive new start. It can be found on the Management: Library Research Guide on the Human Resources tab. The database contains information regarding job description manager, state law chart builder, and salary finder. A few details are available in the HR Hero brochure, furthermore, the description and link is below.
HR Hero (BLR) This database contains HR resources on topics such as compensation, discrimination, benefits & leave, health and safety, and more. Also available are recent HR related news, reference guides, and other helpful tools.
New Resources
Listed below are the newest databases to our collection that you may find useful. Included are the descriptions, and the titles are hyperlinked for your convenience. If you are asked to login, please use your Blackboard username and password.
