On November 6th, the Lenape Chamber Choir participated in RADfest 5 at C.B. West High School. RADfest is collaboration with C.B. West and Tohickon Middle School, which brings world-renowned composer Rollo A. Dilworth to Doylestown to work with our students. The chamber choir prepared Dilworth’s song, Everlasting Melody to sing at the festival. (The students had about twenty minutes to rehearse the song with Dr. Dilworth.) He also conducted them on the piece in the concert.

In addition to Everlasting Melody, the chamber choir joined the Tohickon Select Choirs and C.B. West Choirs to perform three additional pieces by Dr. Dilworth. These additional pieces were a result of commissions that we have done with Dr. Dilworth over the past five festivals. The choirs performed the world premiere of our latest commission, Sic Vita at the concert. The students really enjoyed working with and learning from Dr. Dilworth.

'Round Midnight, Chamber Choir, & Acafellas

On Saturday, November 9th, approximately twenty-five Lenape Chamber Choir members participated in a workshop with the professional barbershop quartet, ‘Round Midnight. They are currently the 12th highest ranked barbershop quartet in the world. The quartet discussed the history of barbershop singing and taught the students two tags (which is barbershop lingo for “the ending of a song”) and one complete song.

Later that afternoon the Chamber Ensemble performed in a concert as the “opener” for ‘Round Midnight as part of the Country Gentlemen’s Annual Show at Lenape. Lenape’s own barbershop chorus, the Acafellas, opened for them that evening at the second show of the day. The students really enjoyed meeting and learning from ‘Round Midnight.
