CDS MS Boys Basketball Team
Go Phoenix!
From Coach Clem & Coward
Hello Middle School Boys Basketball Parents!
I’d like to briefly introduce myself to you, as I will be coaching your sons on the Middle School Boys Basketball Team this year! As a long-standing teacher at CDS, it is my 5th straight year coaching the MS Boys Basketball Team! It is truly one of my most favorite times of the year and an honor to contribute to the CDS community through sharing my love and passion for the game of basketball with our wonderful students. In fact, I was their very age when I first started playing on a basketball team myself! Joining me in coaching the team this season will be Mr. Coward. With an extensive background in basketball and strong relationships with many of the boys in the Middle School, I am really looking forward to working together with Coach Coward to lead this team!
Our team at CDS has won our KAIAC divisional championship four years in a row now, so our expectations are set very high! With great expectations comes great responsibility. We expect the students to be ready for every practice on time with proper basketball shoes, gym shorts and a t-shirt. They must be ready to learn, be coachable, and engage in a series of team oriented drills and games. Practices will start at 4:10 p.m. and run to 5:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday throughout the season. If a player cannot attend practice for any reason, they must communicate that with Mr. Coward or I ahead of time.
We have four confirmed jamborees that we will be participating this year, with a likely fifth pending on the participation of our divisional schools. They are as follows:
Saturday, April 13th @ Seoul Foreign School
Saturday, April 20th @ Korea International School
Saturday, April 27th @ Dwight School Seoul
Saturday, May 11th @ Chadwick (All-Star Jamboree, A Team only)
Saturday, May 4th @ TBD or May 18th @ CDS (still pending)
Information regarding the specific bus times for each jamboree will be sent out a few days in advance for each event. Students are encouraged to bring healthy snacks or pocket money to buy food for lunch at each of the jamborees (10,000 KRW is more than enough). Please note, players that normally wear glasses must wear contact lenses or sports goggles for games. Glasses are not allowed.
Also, we have ordered new jersey’s for the entire team this year! The total cost is 60,000 KRW per student. Please have your son bring the money to basketball practice on the Monday (April 1st) following Spring Break.
Should you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 010-3058-9879 or via email at dclem@daltonschool.kr. I look forward to your support this year and hopefully meeting all of you at some point at one of our jamborees! Thank you and let’s go Phoenix!
Sincerely,
Coach Clem & Coach Coward
