Happy First Full Week of School from the CRES PTO!

It has been so fun to see the kids fill the halls of Cumberland Road Elementary with their smiles and eagerness to learn. Thank you to those of you who were able to attend the Ice Cream Social. It is such a fun tradition and we are thrilled to be able to sponsor it each year...And an extra “thank you” to the parents who volunteered at the event. We couldn’t have done it without you!

When you and your kiddos go through backpacks this weekend you should find a new CRES t-shirt. We are so excited to be able to provide all the students, teachers, and staff a t-shirt in their grade-level color as a way to create unity and school spirit. This t-shirt is your child’s to keep and wear throughout the year on any day they’d like, and especially on field trips, during Roadrunner Rally, and on Field Day.

Please mark your calendar for the following upcoming events & meetings:

v Tuesday, September 1 – Open Forum Meeting
All CRES parents & guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend this PTO meeting. We’ll begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Art Room.

v Friday, September 25 - Grillin’ & Chillin’
This FREE evening of food and fun will be held at the school from 5:30-7:00p.m.!

v Thursday, October 1 – Roadrunner Rally
The Roadrunner Rally is one of two major fundraisers we are sponsoring this year. Be on the lookout for more information soon. This has turned into a tradition and the kids have an absolute blast.

Lunch time visitors

Parents are invited to eat with their child any time after Labor Day. Advanced notice needs to be given to the school office by 9:30 am the day you plan to eat in order to secure a school lunch. Visiting parents will need to check in, receive their visitor’s badge, and instructions on meeting their child for lunch. Adults will pay for their meal as they go through the line. We ask parents to purchase a lunch or bring a sack lunch. No food from fast food establishments may be brought into the Lunch Room area by any individual for consumption, per Hamilton Southeastern Schools’ policy. In addition, a background check is required to join a student for lunch.

Café Expectations and Procedures

We want our café to be a place where our students can enjoy dining with each other using kindness and good manners.

There are two rules for students in the café.

1. Be Kind.

2. Be Safe.

This looks and sounds like:

1 Walk in quietly with your hands to yourself.

2 Use a quiet indoor voice to talk to your friends.

3 Raise your hand if you need help or need to get something.

4 Keep your hands, feet and objects to yourself.

5 Eat your own food.

Balance, Roll & Tumble with Fishers Parks & Recreation

Calling all parents, sign your little ones up for a program that helps them spend some of their extra energy! Preschool Tumbling is back and promises to teach your child new tumbling skills while they make new friends and gain independence. Children ages 3 through 6 will explore front/back and no handed rolls, bridges and many other new gymnastic skills. Due to the popularity of this program there are two sessions to choose from:

· Session 1 takes place from 11:05 a.m. to noon at Billericay Park, beginning on September 1 and ending on September 22.

· Session 2 takes place from 11:05 a.m. to noon at Billericay Park beginning on November 3 and ending on November 24.

Fishers Parks & Recreation strives to find diverse ways to aid your child’s development while they’re out having fun. Preschool Tumbling is a drop off program, which means that as your gymnast gains independence learning new skills, you parents are able to enjoy a few moments to yourself! Preschool Tumbling costs $36 for residents and $54 for nonresidents.

Registration can be completed online, so secure a spot on the beam today! As a reminder, children who complete this program can advance into Intermediate Preschool Tumbling to continue their tumbling education! See staff for details upon completion of the Preschool Tumbling program.
