Steege Scoop June 2016
Ms. Steege's Fourth Grade Class Newsletter
Winding down...
Everything is coming to an end! First of all, I want to thank you for all you have done for your child, for me, and for our whole class this 2015-2016 school year. I couldn't have done it without you!!
We are doing a ton of fun activities this week and the final week of school next week. Some that are worth mentioning:
Friday- Present genius hour projects to classmates
Tuesday- Track and Field Day
Thursday- Last day of school
We have been doing wordles in language arts- each student will come home with positive adjectives their clasmmates have written about them. We have been doing a lot of work on kindess, bullying, positive thoughts, etc.
In math, we worked on solving a mystery and using our reasoning, problem solving, and cooperation skills. Ask your child about the mystery they solved! We will be playing games and doing a scavenger hunt to wrap up our year in math. I had my math students do a survey on MY teaching- I learned a lot from them! I plan to incorporate a set time for students to come ask me questions about homework or the lesson in general as well as try to find more games for students to play based on the subjects we learn about for next year. I definitely also plan on keeping the guided math style as students expressed that this helped them learn in a more individualized way. One student even wrote, "You made math so much more fun Ms. Steege! I loved how you teach math and I have learned so much more in fourth grade." I LOVE to hear that!
We wrapped up social studies! I am so impressed by how much students studied and dedicated their time to learning the states and capitals! We did great. Thanks for your work at home. Students are finishing up their reader's theatre in guided reading. They will be recording part of their story on seesaw- so be on the look out for that! Speaking of seesaw, did you see your child's ode? We had an ode to pickles, dogs, cats, clipboards, and even freezies. We finished writing with this project. We worked in the app Chatterpix and they turned out so fun! If your child's ode isn't up on seesaw yet, they will be soon!
We will be cleaning out cubbies and lockers next week, doing some fun grade level rotations, and doing some reflecting on our year in fourth grade! Look for your child's memory book that will be brought home soon!
Again, thank you again for all you have done this year! Don't be a stranger this summer or the coming school year. You know where to find me! :)
