The weekly newsletter for Keene Adventist Elementary School

September 27, 2019

Vision, Hearing and Spinal Screenings are coming to KAES Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

Each year Texas State law requires us to screen students for possible vision, hearing and spinal problems. This early detection can be very beneficial and can make any possibly needed treatment much easier.

KAES has partnered with the Southwestern Adventist University nursing department and will have screenings performed by faculty and nursing students from SWAU that have been certified through DSHS.

I have attached a detailed letter that explains the process, what it is, how the screenings are performed, and who will be screened. Please read over this letter to familiarize yourself with the process.

Family Fun Fest (Sept. 29)

Our annual Family Fun Fest will be on Sunday, Sept. 29! Be ready for a fun-filled day for all KAES students and their families. Held at the Elisa Carver Park in Keene from 11:00pm to 3:00pm our event is open to the community so invite your friends. If you haven’t yet, please check with your child's teacher and see how you can help me make your child’s class booth a success. Ticket sales will help to raise money for classroom needs. If it ends up raining we will relocate at the CTA gymnasium. Rain or shine we will have a great time.

Big picture

WORSHIP CLINIC

This week our chapel was a bit different. It was the first of three worship clinics that we will have this year. The purpose is to have students choose an area of church worship and learn about it. This time we focused on areas like staging, songs and praise, audio and visual, graphic design, signing and sharing. Students were able to learn and experience many different ways that they can take their worship active.

State Fair of Texas

A free, complementary State Fair ticket is being sent home today for students in grades Pre-k through 4th grade. These tickets are provided free for students. 5th through 8th grades will use their tickets on their field trip. We hope you enjoy the fair!

Schedule Change for Parent/Teacher Conferences (2nd Notice)

Please note the schedule change for parent/teacher conferences. Parent/teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, October 31. Please look for details in future newsletters in October for how to sign up for a parent/teacher meeting. If you’re unavailable to meet on the 31st of October, please contact your child’s teacher to schedule a meeting at a different time after school hours.

John 5:39 Memory Challenge

At the end of our Week of Worship today we unveiled our John 5:39 Names of Jesus Memory Challenge. The goal is to memorize the name of God used in each of the books of the Bible. Because it is a big challenge we have broken it into three parts to help make working toward this challenge doable. This challenge is open to any KAES student in any grade. Check out the video below as Pastor Travis and Mr. Coulter share how the challenge works.

Reaching out to our community to be the hands and feet of Jesus

Today students from 5th grade through 8th grade went out in our community to help where help is needed. We want to continue to instill an attitude of service in our students. They learn that sometimes the greatest sermon we can share is one of selfless actions of love. #weloveourcommunity
