A team of 40 (parents, students, leaders, volunteers, and pastors) will be departing Spring Break of 2018 to Costa Rica. These 40 individuals will be spending their spring break partnering with local churches and will be serving their communities. There they will be working with a local high school, serving meals at a community kitchen in the slums, and working hand-in-hand with the already established churches to provide encouragement and resources to its people.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come (Matthew 24:14)

We do not believe that we are going there to rescue people out of poverty. We do not believe that we are some kind of messianic group that will change the landscape of the region in 6 days.

We do believe that we are just called to be faithful to the mission that God has for his people - to love people in word and in action. With whatever resources God has given us, our understanding is that we are to give back. We believe that we must work with already established groups on the ground that will continue to build up those communities long after we leave. So our goal is just to come in and provide some support, provide some resources, and encourage our partners on the ground.

We ultimately believe that what we’re doing is in efforts to make disciples of all nations. We admit that these little acts of love are not final, but true change belongs to the Lord so we go with the hopes and prayers that God will change hearts.

In light of this, we have dedicated ourselves to prepare to the best of our abilities. We have four strenuous training sessions that deal with team-building, learning the local culture and language, preparing and planning for the work that needs to be done, and prayer. Nonprofit Organization in Santa Rita, Alajuela, Costa Rica. This is the organization on the ground in Costa Rica. It was founded by our good friend Luis Artavia who works closely with the community and the churches in the area.

  1. Each member is responsible for raising $1600-1700 dollars and that covers travel, meals, transportation, and some other expenses. However, each member will be your extension on the ground as they serve the children, families, and schools in Costa Rica. They will be your hands and feet for the week as they pray with, laugh and cry with so many people that they meet. Much of your partnership will go towards advancing the gospel through this team.

In addition, each member of our team will be bringing an extra suitcase filled with supplies to leave for the communities (esp. those in the slums).

  2. In addition, two of our fundraising efforts will go towards meeting two big needs

    1. School is such a precious commodity there that many of the students we’ll be in contact with don’t get a chance to go. Partly because they don’t have shoes, partly because they don’t have supplies. Part of this fundraising will go towards providing backpacks for as many students as we can take care of. Your funds will go towards purchasing backpacks with school supplies so that students can finally go to school.

    2. We believe that first hand leadership is through experience. Part of our fundraising is going towards funding two local students from the area to join our team while we are there in order to gain valuable leadership experience.

Any amount you can offer will go a long ways. The church will provide you a tax-deductible receipt for your records.
