The Horace Mann & Leet Connection
October 4, 2019
Message from the Principal
Dear Families and School Supporters,
The weather is starting to change and Fall is upon us. Please help your child plan their wardrobe accordingly. Tennis shoes are the preferred footwear to allow your child to participate fully in movement activities and to protect their feet when outdoors. Keeping a jacket or hoodie in your child's backpack will ensure they are prepared for the continuously changing Missouri weather. Please remember to put your child's name on jackets and hoodies to help prevent lost items. Items without names are placed in the lost and found. The lost and found is located at the bottom of the stairwell leading down to Art and Music.
Please sign up to walk with us in the Homecoming Parade on October 26th. You can RSVP below. Candy donations are needed in the office by October 17th. More information is outlined below.
Out next family involvement night will be October 28th from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm for Science in the Outdoor Classroom. Dr. Rena Smith's class will be hosting science activities you can do with your child. A meal is provided for families who attend.(Please note this is a change from our original date. We had to make an adjustment to accommodate the group coming to share their science expertise with us.)

Northwest Football players, coaches, cheerleaders and Bobby the Bearcat enjoy a pancake breakfast with Leet Center and Horace Mann families. Stadium Cleanup & Fundraiser - Saturday, October 26th after the 2:00 Homecoming game
Please join us for this easy fundraiser helping with cleanup at home football games.
This usually takes about 20 minutes and we make roughly $150 per game to help with classroom expenses.
The more families helping, the faster it goes.
If you do not wish to attend the game, we ask that you show up at about 3:30 pm to help.
If we don't have family support, we risk losing this helpful opportunity.
We will have the gloves and trash bags located at the North Endzone during the last quarter of the game.
Mark your calendar for our other clean-up dates!

Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families
At the Leet Center, family relationships and children are our passion! At the heart of our learning together, you will find educators who see children as capable learners. Children learn through investigation, exploration, and communication. Our pre-school environment is a natural home-like atmosphere that is filled with inquiry and joy each day.
The Leet Center is also home to our developing outdoor classroom and we believe that all the learning that happens indoors can also be present in the outdoor spaces. Open-ended materials and carefully cultivated spaces provide a place for collaboration, thinking, and representation of ideas. Our learning community includes educators and university students who are working together to listen and learn with children. Children, educators, and families each play an important role in honoring the intellectual and emotional integrity of children.
