Newsletter Week 3 2022
Nau mai, haere mai ki Pounamu.
Thank you for your understanding regarding the postponement of this week's Getting to Know you meetings. We are hoping to reschedule these next week. With the move to phase 2 of the red light setting we have been spending time planning how learning will take place under different scenarios when COVID comes to our community.
We will update you over the next few days as to our plans. Be assured that we are working to continue providing quality learning experiences in home and school settings.
After our rather wet weekend it has been wonderful to see some sun today. Pounamu has the
Adventure Zone to themselves on Mondays and we had a great time playing there as a syndicate on Monday afternoon. We will continue to play there on Mondays so it is worthwhile having a spare pair of trousers at school. Some children have some spare clothes they leave in a bag on their hook. If anyone has any spare gumboots or trousers we would love some for our emergency clothing supply.
Thanks to the people who have been supplying us with odds and ends like boxes. A great box is a prized possession at school! We appreciate all the treasure the children bring in.
RED Traffic Light Setting.
Here are a few reminders to about coming to school in the RED traffic Light setting. We are looking forward to seeing our lovely tamariki!
- We ask parents to say goodbye to children at the gate. Teachers will be at the gate to welcome students. No entry before 8:30am and please use the main Beazley Road entrance, as the shared kindy pathway is closed for the time being.
- Other arrangements are available in limited circumstances, please contact your child's teacher for more information - eg new enrolments.
- Bring a water bottle every day. Drinking fountains are open but everyone is encouraged to drink from their own bottle.
In 2022 there are two options for providing your child with an emergency pack:
Supply a pack for your child or children, the same as previous years, which must be provided by 28 February:
➢ 1 small tin meal eg spaghetti, baked beans
➢ 2 small tins of fruit
➢ 3 snack items
➢ 6-10 (wrapped) barley sugar lollies
➢ 1 plastic spoon
➢ 2 large plastic bag
If a pack hasn’t been supplied for your child by Monday 28 February then we will presume you wish to order one through the school.
Pay $7 and an emergency kit will be supplied for your child. These kits are nut free to cater for students with allergies. An order form will be sent home next week, where you will be able to pay using Kindo, Eftpos or sending $7 to the office.
Thanks to the Home and School Committee who are organising emergency kits for families who order them.
Goodtime Music Academy starts up again on Monday the 14th of February.
They have strategies in place to teach music under the Red Traffic Light setting.
Instructors are fully vaccinated and wear masks when teaching. The bus is well ventilated and equipment is wiped down after use.

If you are still waiting on your stationery don't worry! We can manage for a wee while with classroom resources but for the first day a pen and pencil case would be helpful.
