Montclair's Community Tribune
Welcome to the 2022 - 2023 School Year!
Montclair Community
Over the past few weeks, members of our administration attended the ESCD Leadership Conference, where Dr. Smith shared his "Theory of Action," which included "uniting for every student to succeed." Specifically, ECSD will achieve this goal by providing equal access to quality public education that embraces the uniqueness and potential of each student.
When reflecting on his keynote, I am very proud of the work we have started and what lies ahead for us at Montclair, specifically around this goal of uniting and partnering with the community and families to help our students succeed. We have several ways for families to get involved this year. The first step is attending the Montclair volunteer training on August 9, 2022, at 8:00 am or 12:30 pm.
We are looking forward to a great school year with our claw of panthers. We appreciate your continued partnership as we lay a great foundation for learning.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing our claw of panthers on Wednesday!
Best,
Principal Person
Our Vision:
United for every student to succeed.
Our Mission:
Create an atmosphere where students take ownership, staff lead with compassion, and parents are partners.
Uniform Policy
Please remember that Montclair has a uniform policy. The required uniform is khaki or navy bottoms (pants, shorts, skirts) and navy or white tops (polo-style shirts with a collar, turtlenecks, and blouses/button-down shirts). Students may not wear hoodies in school. Students should properly fasten pants so the waistband is not below the top of their hipbone. Students can wear their Montclair spirit shirts any day, but jeans are limited to Friday.
Shoes should fasten securely on the front and back for safety. Crocs and sandals are not permitted footwear. Students will not be allowed to change shoes for PE or recess during the school day.
Arrival
Morning drop-off begins between 6:50 and 7:10 as we await the 7:10 tardy bell that allows students to enter the gate. Parents should drop car riders off at the car rider benches only. Our staff members will be there to open your doors and greet you. Please do not drop students by the cafeteria or anywhere else that is unsupervised. Parents or guardians are expected to sign students in after 7:10.
As mentioned in the call-out, parents are not permitted to walk their children to class for safety reasons.
Free Breakfast & Lunch
Escambia County School District will continue participation in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the following sites for the 2022-2023 school year. All students will be served breakfast and lunch at no charge.
Car Riders
We distributed car rider tags during orientation. You must stop by the main office and show your ID to get one if you did not attend. Parents must do this before Wednesday afternoon.
Staff will only release into vehicles with the car rider sign in the window. For safety purposes, we cannot release a child to a parent that walks up to the car rider line. If you are having trouble with your transportation method and need to pick your child up physically, we ask that you go to the front office to make the request.
The car rider line at the beginning of the year goes a little slower than usual. However, we must ensure all students safety and take the time to teach students how to follow our end-of-day dismissal routines.
We appreciate your patience as we work through these details at the beginning. Once we have established the procedures, we aim for the car rider line to be complete by 1:40.
Dismissal Procedures
Always follow the instructions of the staff members on duty in our car loop.
Be cautious and considerate of others drivers AND students on our school grounds.
Consider carpooling whenever possible to ease congestion.
We will not check out students after 12:55. Dismissal begins at 1:25 pm each day. We aim for the buses to leave campus at 1:30 each day. During the first week of school, we start the dismissal process earlier than usual to allow for smooth transitions and address all transportation questions.
Due to safety concerns, we cannot process transportation changes over the phone. All changes must be made in writing or in person by an authorized person listed in Focus.
