LVMS Newsletter
Back To School Edition II
Welcome Back!
I wanted to send out one more newsletter before school started to help with Pick Up and Drop Off - two big questions!
DROP OFF
Students can be dropped off before school either in the front of the school , or down by the cafeteria. There are no grade level guidelines before school - we're just happy they're here!
PICK UP
6th Grade Pick Up is in the front of the school, between the Upper Gym and Administration Building.
7th and 8th Grade Pick Up is in the loop behind the school by the Lower Gym.
Parents can also park across the street in the youth baseball field parking lot and have your students walk to you. Important -
1) The parking lot is one way, with the entrance being closest to 1431.
2) You can only turn right on Bar K when leaving the parking lot.
If you're more of a visual person - here's a short 6 minute video going over Pick Up and Drop Off.
Bus Drivers Needed
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
Please Welcome Our New Teachers

I have lived in Lago Vista for 15 years with my husband Danny, our son Nate who is 9, our dog Lilly, and our cat Polly Prissypants . I also have a daughter who is grown and lives in Round Rock. I have taught 7th grade science for the past 10 years at Henry Middle School in Leander. Before that I taught 5th grade ELA/Social studies at Plain Elementary, also in Leander. My family and I love to travel, jet ski and hang out at the lake. I am looking forward to teaching at LVMS and being a part of the Viking Nation!!! | Toni Larkin I am incredibly excited to be joining the Middle School this year! Born and raised in Houston, I ended up following Andrew Larkin to the Austin area many years ago. Although I began professional life as a social worker, once I started working in the school system I knew that was my calling. I am beginning my 3rd year in LVISD. Before coming here, I taught regular and advanced Math in RRISD for 4 years. This is my 10th year teaching and my 15th year in education. I collect Wonder Woman and I also love everything about music. At home I have an amazing family. My husband, Andrew, has been teaching at LVHS for 11 years. We have 2 children, Jonas (who will be in 7th grade at LMS) and Cora (who will start 5th grade at the intermediate). We have 2 sweet cats, Thunder Cat and The Dude, and a Beta, Ziggy Stardust. All together, we love traveling, playing games, reading, and trying new foods. | Jackie O'Bryant I am joining the Lago Vista Middle School Math department. I attended Texas State University and have been teaching in Leander for 7 years. Fun fact: I attended LVMS and am a graduate of Lago Vista ISD. I am thrilled to be coming home. My husband Matt and I have 3 boys. All of which attend school here. Liam and Lucas at the Intermediate School and Declan will be a Little Viking at the Elementary School. You may catch me around town out for a jog or playing volleyball. I also enjoy renovation projects around my house and watching rerun episodes of Friends. |

Brad Keel I'm lucky to live in Lago and be a dad to two awesome kiddos - Emma was born in June and Jack will be two in September. My wife Amanda grew up in Lago Vista and was a Viking all the way through school! We met in college near my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri (born and raised a Cardinals and Blues fan. We don't talk about the Rams). I'm coming over from Leander ISD where I taught 8th grade and coached. Before getting into teaching, I was a college lacrosse coach in Iowa and also ran a retail store here in Austin for a bit. I enjoy attempting to stay fit, cruising around the lake on my golf cart with the family, and learning cool random facts. I also still compete in lacrosse at the semi-pro level. I’m so excited to be part of the Viking Family and can’t wait to get to know everyone! | Angela DrakeI’ve always dreaded the question “Where Are you from?” because I grew up a Navy brat and never felt like I had a home base. I spent all four years in high school at Leander High, so Central Texas is what most resonates with me. After college (SFASU… Go Jacks!) I spent about 12 years in the Houston area. My husband was offered a job opportunity to move to Central Texas and we jumped at it. I have a beautiful daughter who will be attending LVIS next year. As a family we love the lake lifestyle and enjoy spending time outdoors. I’m going on my 17th year of teaching science. My last 4 years were in LISD. I’m excited to teach in the community I live in! | Sydney Villarreal-Koerber I was born and raised in South Texas and started my pattern of moving around the country when k went to college. I studied French and African Studies in Nebraska and just finished up my Master’s in Salamanca, Spain. After college I worked in Germany, Wyoming, California and Colorado before moving back to hot, hot Texas :D. This will be my 8th year teaching - fourth year teaching Spanish as a foreign language (the first four I spent doing elementary bilingual. I love my pets, traveling, my garden and being outside, in the mountains, ocean, or at the lake. |

Fundraiser!
I am hoping you might be willing to help us build a vibrant and connected school culture at LVMS. Fundraising is something that helps to fund student activities and give teachers additional resources to support students. Through our partnership with School Funding Group we are simply asking for a minimum $20 dollar donation, and for that donation, you will receive numerous discounts on brand names like Amazon, Home Depot, Nike and Oakley. These discounts can far outweigh the cost of your donation.
The proceeds of this fundraiser will help fund:
- Teacher Training
- Teacher Supplies
- Student Incentives
- Technology for the classroom
- UIL and OAP Supplies
- School Improvement
We appreciate any support you can give and can't wait for this to be the best school year ever!
